Eclipse and Force.com IDE

I had trouble getting the latest Eclipse and Force.com IDE to work.

Eventually I found that one must use the following versions
Eclipse 3.3.2
Force.Com IDE 15

Knowledge Base 2

It appears that the Knowledge base is a Salesforce Plug-in. The knowledge base will replace the Solutions in Salesforce

Does any body know the difference between Salesforce solutions and Knowlege Base?
